Dr. Christian Lacroix is UPEI's Vice-President Academic. Dr. Lacroix has over six years experience as a Dean and serves on numerous UPEI committees, including the Extended Senior Management Group, Deans’ Council, and the Academic Review and Planning Committee. Dr. Lacroix has also served on UPEI’s faculty negotiating team. Appointed as interim Vice-President in July 2012 and as Vice-President in June of 2014, Dr. Lacroix looks forward to working with a strong team of Deans and academic directors to ensure the continuation and further development of highly regarded and relevant academic programming offered by the University of Prince Edward Island.
Dr. Lacroix has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island since August 1990. He was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor in July 1995 and became full professor in 2003. His field of specialty is Developmental Plant Morphology and teaches Plant Science related courses. His research highlights relationships between morphologically different structures that share similar developmental pathways. His current research interests include leaf complexity in seed-bearing plants, developmental aspects of floral organ identity, and the biology of the Gulf of St. Lawrence Aster.
